Imaging

Grove Lodge Hospital offers referrals for both ultrasonography and computed tomography (CT) scans.

Grove Lodge has an advanced ultrasound machine to perform in-depth abdominal ultrasounds; ultrasounds are generally performed in conscious patients although sedation maybe required. Ultrasound-guided samples can be performed in appropriate cases.

Grove Lodge Hospital recently (August 2019) installed a state-of-the-art Siemens 32-slice CT scanner. CT produces in-depth detailed images of selected areas of the patients body providing superior information of the anatomy and pathology. Contrast studies are routinely performed in conjunction with plain studies. Sedation or general anaesthesia is required. Images can be reviewed externally by board-certified imaging specialists for complete analysis.

We have experienced vets who are happy to take referrals, or offer advice on cases suitable, for either ultrasonography or CT scans. We accept internal and external referrals, either as part of full investigations (referrals to be arranged via the relevant service) or as a stand-alone procedure (primary vet performing other investigations and follow-up treatments).
